first day of school!!

Today is my first day at the Walla Walla University which is pretty exciting. yesterday afternoon i had my whole family drop me off at the dorm rooms just so it can feel like i am really moving. I took my first polaroid picture i with my camera so that was really cool. my first class is at 11 am so i really have a lot of time on my hand till then. All i can think of right now is how it will feel when i go to italy and i am REallY away from home. I know it will be a good adventure but it will be a really sad see you soon.
My roommate and i decided to have our beds in bunks to save space and i like sleeping on top. Good thing that last night i didn't fall off the edge hahaha. BUT i did get a bug bite which is not even cool.
I hope to get some pictures uploaded soon but i haven't had the time which is really sad. Pretty soon i need to make something or i will go crazy i am sad that my sewing machine had to stay at home.
well i guess i should start walking to my first class so i can be early today is going to be a monday for sure i get done with all my classes at 9. well have a good day :)

OH Winter Please COme SOOn

So this whole week i have been slowing moving out of my room and not even a mile away to the dorms of walla walla University where i will be attending. i am excited about decorating my new room while holiday decor, but that is a another post. today i woke up early...like 7am and hit the snooze about 5 times. I was determened to be in the first 50 customers to get into Jo-Ann fabrics. They gave 5$ gift cards and a free tote for the special ones. I was about the 9th one which was good. I got some knits and some hemp string. i am sure that the total was about 20 but with all the coupons that i use it turned out to be like 5 so i am happy! Last night i was jumping from blog to blog and found on Garance dore this picture of a scarf hoodie that i said "I COULD MAKE THAT!!" with that thought i got to sewing and came out super fun. Really this is so easy to make and i love it cause i cant wait to use it. I believe that this is the best thing i have sewed in a long time i am so happy well goodnight tomorrow is goin to be a long day :S

Oct0ber?

~there are four things right now that i am just loving. just tonight i was able to meet my roommate which im pretty excited about because she loves Polaroids!! i still havent used my camera because i know that the film is very expensive but it is so wonderful.
~on october 16 the movie of the book Where the Wild Things Are will be coming out and i know i will cry many times during it. i love that book and i cant wait to see it come alive. i would really like to make my halloween costume be max's wolf outfit.
~ohhh the Yeah Yeah Yeahs i cant get enough of their music it is so good. i was able to see them at bumbershoot and wow that chick can sing. Karen Orzolek (lead singer, girl) has such a good sense of style. most of the stuff that she wears would seem uncomfortable but she makes it work.
~CANDY CORN MEANS...WINTER!!! all summer i have been waiting for winter. the first signs of winter means candy corn, mornings where it gets chilly and u have to break a sweater out!!, the crazy stores that put a little bit of Christmas decorations out :P well i cant stop eating candy corn and its not October.

produce buttons

As you heard our garden is growing its last goods of the season and yesterday my mom picked our first corn that we have awaited all summer. We constantly repeat "save me some of that corn for later" off of nacho libre. My mother wants to can peaches which i have no clue how to but i am sure that there is a D.I.Y. on canning peaches. We hand picked apples at a farm near our house it was fun. There were a lot of spiders and they all had gross, long, creepy, legs, but its ok that was their home.

I was on the web searching for cool d.i.y projects and came across a button coaster. i had never thought about sewing buttons together. i don't have the patience to sew a lot of them together so i made them into jewelry. I am really happy how it turned out. i think i will make some more :)

oh and about that cat on the stove yea...we love cats my mom bought them and put it there for her to find it lol i thought it was funny.

Day off

Today was my day off and i had big dreams. Last night i made a pattern for undies cause (sshhh i need some) but when i started sewing they became not stretchy. So i went to Hastings and looked at sewing books while sort of made me feel better. i really would like to make my own buttons in the future. I had an idea of a zipper necklace but i think i might have to sleep on that in order to like it.

About a month ago i went down to visit my grandmother and found this cute shirt. she told me that she didn't because of the sleeves. i thought the pattern was very soft and springy (is that a word?) well i thought it would be look good with a belt and a goodwill sweater :) i think this is the only thing that made my day. tomorrow i have the whole morning to sew something.

Saturday sewing

School is going to start soon and i wont have much time to make things anymore and it makes me sad, but winter is coming and that's all that matters. I made a scarf that i saw on Ruffles and Stuff (http://rufflesandstuff.blogspot.com/2009/08/super-easy-t-shirt-scarf.html) i thought it would be easy and sense i had a lot teal fabric and i don't have much clothing of that color.
i have been wanting to work with zippers and went ahead and made brooches. I think i will make some more sense the zippers are so cheap at thrift stores. This Saturday lunch was mostly made of veggies from our crowded garden. for the first time i tasted dandy lion leaves they weren't so great, but it was something new. my mother made zucchini patties that were delightful. mushu got into the spirit to...hahahaha

New

This past Labor Day Weekend i went to Bumbershoot in Seattle WA. Bumbershoot is a 3 days full of concerts. I knew that i needed a new bag that would keep everything safe. This was my first time sewing a zipper, it was a little bit hard but it came out great. :) This bag went through an ocean of humans and toughed it out and did great. the weekend was great and i got to see all the bands i wanted. Seattle is so pretty. The best part of the whole weekend was that i got to meet Ruffeo Heart Lil Snotty. they were so rad(yes thats the word that i had to use). When i got home i was very happy to see the Mushu! (the cat) sorry the pictures a little bit messed up*
